One-Day Captain Cobb stays positive despite White departure

Leicestershire one-day captain Josh Cobb took to twitter to silence the skeptics and showed confidence in the current, young squad.

He is completely correct as well, Leicestershire undoubtedly do have lots of young talent. Shiv Thakor will have the opportunity to play a full season and will push for player of the season if he continues his form from the back-end of last season. Cobb himself is most definitely pushing onto England’s one-day radar and gaining valuable experience in the Bangladesh Premier League. Two of the best young players of the past 5 years have come from the midlands county, with both Taylor and Broad moving over the boarder in search of bigger and better things. The county will hope not to become Nottinghamshire’s feeder team with the likes of Cobb and Thakor moving to the local rivals. For the sake of the county I hope not as well.

The availability of youth at Leicestershire has always shown what a promising youth section they have. In recent years Cobb, Thakor, Rob Taylor and Greg Smith have had to miss vital parts of the season due to studying. But with the team starting to come of age, availability will be less of a problem as Leicestershire aim to build a team on a low budget for the coming years.
