Ashley Giles has once again missed my blog post about how Matt Prior should be playing One-Day International cricket as he replaces the misfiring Craig Kieswetter with Jos Buttler.
This is a choice I am perfectly happy with as, especially in the one-day and twenty20 formats, Buttler has shown some serious potential that is slowly turning into performances. However, out of England’s four keepers in all squads (Prior, Kieswetter and Bairstow being the other three) he is definitely not the best behind the stumps or most experienced. He is understudy to glove-man Kieswetter at Somerset where the 22 year old Buttler plays mainly as a batsmen.
With the 5th ODI up in the Himalayan Mountains, where they are currently in the middle of winter and experiencing sub-zero temperatures, unlikely to be played due to conditions. England will have to win this game to draw the series 2-2. Seems there is more chance playing at a snowy Trent Bridge where I went for a net a few days ago. Quite a view if you’ve never seen a cricket pitch pilled up with snow!
